Koh Mak is a tropical island in Thailand with white sand beaches and crystalline water.
The island is about 40 km from the mainland and is in the National Marine Park of the East of Thailand. Koh Mak is located between Koh Chang and Koh Kood.
From Bangkok you have three to four hours by car to the port of Trat, where you embark on the island. From the city of Trat, take a taxi to Leam Ngob Pier (17 km). The boat leaves Laem Ngop Pier only on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 11:00 ET price of 300 Bath ticket per person and it takes about 3 hours to get to Koh Mak. You can take a fast boat and it takes about 45 minutes and 450 THB for one person.

| Koh Mak has a tropical climate with high temperatures all year but 2 seasons. Between early November and late February, relatively cool, dry and sunny. The best time to plan your trip to the island. Another season is during the monsoon season,

What to do in Koh Mak
Scuba / Snorkeling
There are 3 diving schools on Koh Mak:
Divers Koh Mak (English), Paradise Divers (German and English) and Diving Ploy (Thai). All offer diving courses and organize day snorkeling. There are some places notament Ao Suan Yai and Ao Kao, where you can dive close range. If you are a good swimmer level you can also swim from island to island (Koh Mak Koh Kham and Koh Rayang).

Some hotels like Koh Mak Resort Koh Mak Ban and allow you to rent kayaks to reach Koh Rayang Koh Kham or (about 1 km away). The rental price starts from 200 Baht per hour.

Bike ride:
You can rent mountain bikes for about 150 baht per day. Koh Mak is great for bike rides as you can explore the whole island.

Thai cooking classes:
Thai Smile Cooking School holds Thai cooking classes in Ban Ao Nid near Ao Nid Pier on the island of Koh Mak.

Motorcycle rental:
Almost every hotel rents bikes but it’s more expensive on Koh Mak et400 300 Baht per day.

Island Tour:
Some hotels organize a tour around the island. Common sites are ao Nid Pier, rubber plantations, a local museum, the temple of Koh Mak and two points of view.
You can also plan trips to Koh Wai, Koh Kood, Koh Kradat, Koh Kham and Koh Rayang in the high season.

Most hotels offer Thai massage services from 300 Baht per hour but also on the beach as everywhere in Thailand.

The beaches of Koh Mak
Koh Mak about 27 km of coastline and many sandy beaches. Most of the ratings are rocky or mangrove and there are two main beaches:
The beach of Ao Kao Beach (southwest)
This is the most popular beach with 12 small hotels along the beach. Ao Kao Beach beach is about 5 km long. This beach is one of the most romantic areas of the island where you can enjoy the view on Koh Rayang Nok and Koh Rayang Nai.
Ao Suan Yai (northwest):
This beach is also very beautiful and well known for its sunsets and breathtaking views on the island of Koh Kham. Along the beach there are only 3 hotels and they share 3 km sandy beach.
Ao Nid Bay (south-east):
A ao Nest Bay is the place of the main pier where twice a week, the local wooden boat docks. Since this pier (Ao Nid Pier) you have stunning views of Koh Kood in the East.
Ao Tan (northeast):
Quiet beach or only the Cinnamon hotel took possession. The beach is not for swimming because geniale vasseuse but the place is peaceful.
